View challenge: C-0130-0102 - Seeking solution for the TRAFFIC JAM (how to avoid and ways to clear it off faster)
Most of the urban cities in India today have a traffic jam problem which results in loss of person hours, causes environmental damage, and increases fuel wastage.

There are thousands of suggestions received to resolve traffic issues by the planning authorities and traffic management agencies across India, however most of them lack either the impact (return on investment), solve too little of a problem or underplay the dependencies which exists to implement those solutions.

Seeker is expecting a comprehensive solution for the “Traffic Jam” problem in the urban cities.

Your solution must account for the following.

1) Provide solution for the traffic Jam problem. (Both how to avoid the traffic jams in the first place and also ways to clear it off faster)
2) Maintain current average commute time or reduce it during next 10 years.
3) Maintain current average speed of commute or increase it during next 10 years.
4) Expected growth of vehicles in next 10 years.

Please mention the city you have considered while providing the solution.

We are expecting solutions for one or both of the following categories.

Category 1 - High impact, low cost, practical, implementable
Category 2 - High impact but DOES NOT NEED TO be low on cost, practical or implementable

Your solution must contain following

Category 1 - High impact, low cost, practical, implementable.

1) Details on how your solution will help solve current and future traffic jam problem. Assume that your solution was implemented 10 years ago, explain how it would have changed the current scenario.
2) Details on how your solution will bring in significant widespread impact
3) Details on how your solution is practically implementable (also provide factors which can make your solution non implementable.)
4) Details on the dependencies which exist for implementing your solution (Example – other civic agencies like power, water, sewage, telephone services)
5) Details on how your solution is cost effective. Justify how the investment will equal the benefits.
6) Provide statistical evidence if applicable.

Category 2- High impact but DOES NOT NEED TO be low on cost, practical or implementable.

This is a theoretical problem and needs a theoretical solution.

1) Explain how your solution will help solve current and future traffic jam problem. Assume that your solution was implemented 10 years ago, explain how it would have changed the current scenario.
2) Explain how your solution will bring in significant widespread impact.
3) Describe the high level ingredients used in your solution (Process, Technology or Techniques)

Can the solution of traffic Jam come from the problem itself? How do we make the traffic jam problem self heal? Feel free to go WILD with your imagination without thinking about how it can be implemented (Applicable only for category 2)

Notes:

a) Both solutions for category 1 and 2 needs to be submitted together in the same form.
b) Reward will be distributed between solutions for category 1 and 2 equally.
