View challenge: C-6180-0111 - Seeking molten salt heat transfer fluid or mixtures
Our client seeks molten salt heat transfer fluids, or mixtures thereof, comprising primarily of the following ions: K+. Mg++, Na+, Ca++, PO4(-3), Br(-1) and Cl(-1).

ICL produces a range of salts from both the Dead Sea and quarries around the world. Molten salt mixtures which offer enhanced properties, and are based on these materials would strengthen ICL's position in the green energy market and serve to solve the critical issue of heat transfer in this market.

Criteria

Usage of the noted ions
Solidification at or below 200C
Stability up to 1000C
Stability of salt mix in the system must exceed 10 years
Specific heat capacity of Cp>1.3 KJ/KgC
Must be compatible with construction materials costing no more than 100 $/Kg
Superior performance relative to available K-NaNO3 mixture
Economic viability

As a technology incubator, our client is looking only for innovative technologies that may be further developed and commercialized through a business unit in ICL.
