View challenge: C-7140-0101 - Seeking a technology for the encapsulation of inorganic salts
Our Client is seeking a technology for the encapsulation of inorganic salts and salt hydrates having melting point lower than 150C within a non permeable thermoplastic polymer shell to form encapsulated salt pellets.

Key Success Criteria:

a. The inorganic salts should be encapsulated in a polymer which does not allow leakage
b. The polymer must have a Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) equal or lower than that of polyethylene.
c. Salt to polymer ratio should exceed 85% w/w
d. Matrix should be stable over prolonged period of time
e. Encapsulated salt pellets should be in the diameter range of 0.5 5 mm
f. Encapsulation would be tested with the following inorganic salts: CaCl2.6H2O, CaCl2.6H2O + MgCl2.6H2O, MgCl2.6H2O, MgCl2.4H2O, MgSO4.10H2O, Na2HPO4.12H2O, CaBr2.6H2O and Na2P2O7. 10H2O. Potassium based salts may also be tested.
